Education Resource Center

About Us

Education resource center service deskThe Education Resource Center offers opportunities for pre-service and in-service PreK-12 teachers and librarians to explore the uses of a variety of curriculum materials for classroom instruction with the primary aim of developing and improving their teaching skills by increasing the awareness of options and possibilities. We collaborate with Chicago State University's library and its College of Education to provide a variety of services and products that encourage innovative ideas and creativity in curriculum development and that stimulate users to inquire about and search for the best methods and tools for teaching.

Mission and Activities of the Center

The Kid’s Corner

As a service to its patrons, the Chicago State University Academic Library provides a small area at the rear of the Education Resource Center on the southwest side of the third floor for young children to read or play quietly while their adult caregivers study in carrels nearby. Caregivers may also use the area to read quietly to individual children or to small groups of children. Patrons may bring in their own reading materials or use items from the Center’s collection of 21,855 children’s books.
